PitchSun for Indian solar installers

Solar proposal software for Indian rooftop installers

Turn a customer's electricity bill into a subsidy-correct, GST-correct rooftop solar proposal in minutes, then share it on WhatsApp as a mobile link they can read in their own language and accept online.

Most rooftop solar deals in India are won or lost in the gap between the site visit and the quote. PitchSun is solar proposal software built for that gap: enter the customer's monthly bill, and it works out the system size, prices it from your own list, applies GST and the PM Surya Ghar subsidy correctly, and gives you a branded proposal you can send on WhatsApp before you leave the house.

It is built for residential and small commercial installers, EPCs, channel partners and freelance consultants who today put quotes together in Excel at night and send a PDF that gets buried in the chat. PitchSun is in early access, and installers are being onboarded in batches.

Why installers move off spreadsheet quotations

A spreadsheet can hold a price list. What it usually gets wrong is everything around the price, and those are the numbers the customer checks first:

  • Subsidy maths. A flat ₹ per kW beyond 2 kW overstates the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, and a customer who later gets less money blames the installer.
  • GST. A single rate on the whole contract is wrong for supply plus installation. The 70:30 split works out to about 8.9%, not 5% or 18%.
  • Savings and payback. A single "units × tariff" figure ignores DISCOM slabs and net-metering settlement, which can move payback by more than a year.
  • Follow-up. Once a PDF is sent, you have no idea whether it was opened, so you either chase too early or too late.

If you want to see what a complete quotation should contain before choosing any tool, our solar quotation format guide lays out a 16-part template covering the bill of materials, GST, subsidy, warranties and exclusions. PitchSun produces a proposal along those lines automatically.

What PitchSun's solar proposal software does

60-second Quick Quote from the bill

Enter the monthly bill in rupees; PitchSun works backwards through the tariff slabs to units, sizes the system, and picks a DCR module and inverter from your catalogue.

Correct PM Surya Ghar subsidy

Central financial assistance is applied by slab, including the ₹78,000 cap and special-category state rates, and shown as its own line below the total so the net cost is clear.

GST-correct pricing

Quotes use the 70:30 composite-supply split (about 8.9%), with your own products, prices and margins from your price list.

Savings the customer can trust

A month-by-month net-metering bill simulation drives payback, IRR and NPV, plus a monthly generation chart and a 25-year cumulative savings chart.

EMI against monthly savings

When the customer takes a loan, the proposal shows the loan amount and monthly EMI next to the monthly saving, so the conversation moves from price to cash flow.

Interactive WhatsApp proposal link

Send a branded, mobile-friendly proposal as a link instead of a heavy attachment. Revisions are saved as versions as the quote changes.

Open tracking and online acceptance

See when the proposal was first opened and how many times. The customer can accept on the page by signing with their name, and a PDF download is logged as a buying signal.

Eight languages

Proposals, PDFs and WhatsApp messages in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali, with money always shown as ₹1,23,456.

How the solar proposal generator works

  1. Start from the bill. Type the monthly amount, or scan a photo of the electricity bill with the AI bill scanner to prefill the lead and quote.
  2. Check the system. PitchSun suggests a size, module and inverter; change anything using your own price list. For a detailed roof layout, open the rooftop designer for satellite tracing, shading and an auto SLD.
  3. Review the numbers. The quote shows the GST-inclusive total, the subsidy line, net cost, savings, payback and EMI. If a discount needs approval, sharing stays blocked until a manager approves it.
  4. Share on WhatsApp. Send the proposal link in the customer's language, with an A4 PDF rendered from the same page for anyone who wants a printout.
  5. Follow up with context. Opens, downloads and acceptance land on the lead's timeline in the built-in solar CRM, so you call when interest is highest.

A rooftop solar proposal app built for Indian customers

Global design tools are powerful, but they are built around other markets' tariffs, incentives and buying habits. A proposal for an Indian home has to answer a specific set of questions: how much will the subsidy be and when does it arrive, what is the real price after GST, what happens to my bill under net metering, and can I pay through a loan. PitchSun builds each of those answers into the quote rather than leaving them to a covering message.

Language matters too. The customer's language is set on the lead and defaults from their state, so a Gujarat lead gets a Gujarati proposal unless you change it. Technical terms such as kW, DISCOM, GST and DCR stay in Latin script, the way installers and DISCOM staff actually use them.

A solar sales proposal tool that stays connected to the job

A proposal is the start of the project, not the end of the sale. In PitchSun the accepted proposal sits on the same record that carries the job through the PM Surya Ghar and DISCOM stages, payment milestones by payer (customer, bank loan and subsidy), and the paperwork for net metering. The expected generation in the proposal is also used later to compare against actual output when monitoring is connected.

That means the numbers you promised are the numbers your team works from. If you are new to the scheme, read the PM Surya Ghar subsidy guide for the rules behind the subsidy line on every quote.

Pricing for the solar proposal template software

Frequently asked questions

What is solar proposal software?

It is a tool that turns a customer's details, usually their electricity bill and roof, into a priced solar quotation with system size, subsidy, net cost, savings and payback. PitchSun does this for Indian rooftop installers and shares the result as a WhatsApp link and an A4 PDF.

How does PitchSun calculate the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?

It applies the central financial assistance slabs for residential rooftop systems: ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000, with higher amounts for special-category states and UTs. The subsidy is shown as a separate line below the GST-inclusive total, so the customer sees both the full price and the effective net cost.

How is GST handled in the quotation?

Quotes follow the 70:30 composite-supply split used for supply-plus-installation contracts, which works out to about 8.9% of the total. Confirm the treatment for your contracts with your CA.

Can customers read the proposal in Hindi or another regional language?

Yes. Proposal links, PDFs and WhatsApp messages can be sent in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali. The language defaults from the customer's state, you can change it before sending, and the customer can switch it on the proposal page.

Do I still get a PDF quotation?

Yes. Every proposal link has a matching A4 PDF rendered from the same page the customer opens on WhatsApp, so the two never disagree. When a customer downloads the PDF from their link, it is logged on their timeline.

How much does PitchSun cost?

PitchSun is in early access. The Starter plan is ₹0 with 10 proposals a month and WhatsApp proposal links; Pro is ₹999 per user per month billed yearly (₹1,299 monthly) and adds unlimited proposals, open tracking, online acceptance and regional-language proposals. Prices exclude GST.
